Primary Schools
September 24, 2009 by Active Schools, under Stewarton.
Hi, I’m Laura Wallace and I’m the Active Schools Coordinator in the Stewarton area which covers Dunlop, Kilmaurs, Lainshaw & Nether Robertland Primaries.
My favourite activities are running, football & going to the gym.
My background is varied and I have worked in sport in many capacities around the world. I studied Leisure Studies at Edinburgh University before travelling to New York where I spent 18 months coaching football. When I returned to Britain I moved to Preston to work at Myerscough College as a Sports Lecturer while also developing their Girls’ Football Academy and coaching at the Blackburn Rovers Centre of Excellence. In 2007 I moved to Wellington, New Zealand, for a year where I worked in a gym before travelling home via Australia. I have previously spent a year working as an Active Schools Coordinator with South Lanarkshire Council before taking on the Stewarton Partnership in January 2010.

My background is I graduated from Paisley University with a degree in Sports Studies in 2003. I then spent a summer coaching football all over America. In my previous job with East Ayrshire Council’s Leisure Development I was a Health & Activity Motivator for five years, planning, organising and delivering activites to 5 – 12 year olds.
